Coming Soon, Fagioli records Porpora

Fagioli records PorporaFollowing the runaway success of his Arias for Caffarelli (hailed by many critics as one of the finest classical releases of 2013), the Argentinian virtuoso countertenor Franco Fagioli is turning his attention to repertoire by Caffarelli's great singing-teacher Nicola Porpora for his next project on the Naive Classique label. Featuring arias from operas including Ezio, Didone Abbandonata and Polifemo as well as cantata and oratorio excerpts, the disc will showcase Fagioli's peerless legato singing as well as his prodigious capacity for coloratura fireworks.

Fagioli is joined by Alessandro De Marchi and the Academia Montis Regalis for the recording, which will be released in September.

Recent recordings with Franco Fagioli

Comprising music written for the notorious star castrato Gaetano Majorano (more commonly known by his stage-name, 'Caffarelli'), Fagioli's solo debut on Naive includes several world premiere recordings and is enhanced by scintillating playing from crack baroque ensemble Il Pomo d'Oro. The disc won widespread critical acclaim, with The Guardian hailing Fagioli as 'one of today's great vocal technicians', whilst The Independent praised his 'outstanding technique and alluring tone'.

Available Formats: MP3, FLAC, Hi-Res FLAC

Fagioli sings the central role of Arbace in this modern premiere staging of Vinci's 1730 masterpiece, filmed at the Opéra National de Lorraine in late 2012 and featuring an all-male cast in accordance with the original production in Rome.
