The aim of this recording is to draw attention to some of the fine organs in Cumbria and North Lancashire and the music written for them by composers with local connections. The inclusion of Lancaster Cathedral might seem surprising until one realises that the Roam Catholic Diocese of Lancaster stretches from Preston to the Scottish Border. Patterdale, Grasmere and Crosthwaite Church, Keswick all fall within the boundaries of the Lake District National Park and contain organs of more than historical interest. All the music on this CD has some connection with the area often reflecting the inspiration of its unparalleled beauty and majesty.
