J & W Chester Ltd was founded in the 1860s in Brighton by Joseph and William Chester. From 1988 onwards, they became part of The Music Sales Group active in both contemporary music and educational publishing. Chester Music are renowned for their music anthologies including the ‘Chester Vocal Anthology’ series, as well as anthologies for Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Oboe, Saxophone and Piano. Some contemporary classical composers include Lutoslawski, Maxwell Davies, Tavener, Henze, Nyman, Glass, Talbot and Einaudi.
