Hertel’s instrumental concertos are less widely known than other areas of his musical output, but several bassoon concertos survive, including the present Concerto in E-flat, one of a group of three. This new edition supersedes the 1997 Phylloscopus edition, which was prepared from the original manuscript by C. M. M. and F. H. Nex.
