This unique hybrid provides the Bach suites free of phrasing, dynamics, and tempo marks, to encourage your own exploration of the many ways to interpret these monumental works. The unique value of this edition includes an extensive study guide explaining and illustrating Bach’s form, harmony, leading tones, drama, tension and resolution, and counterpoint within a solo instrumental line. Examples and discussions, along with special “Exploration prompts,” provide training in the building blocks of composing and interpreting music through the use of these masterworks by Bach. New insights and skills will add fresh inspiration to your performance of music in all genres. In describing the infinite resources of studying Bach’s Six Cello Suites, Dorff ends the study guide by saying, “That is why it’s been open on my music stand for over 50 years. I’m still learning, it’s your turn.”
