Composer Wolfgang-Michael Bauer, who lives in Baden near Vienna, blends classical music and jazz into a natural and elegant synthesis: precisely crafted using classical compositional techniques, driven by jazzy rhythms and harmonic vitality—always formally accomplished, never drifting into arbitrariness. The music often gives the impression of spontaneous improvisation, although every note is meticulously notated: the result of a masterful balance between structure and freedom. “3 Pieces” (2025) embodies this distinctive style in three characterful movements that translate everyday scenes into sound. “Caffeine Rush” captures the driving energy of a caffeine-fuelled morning, “Pannonian Sunset” paints the warm, melancholic atmosphere of a Pannonian sunset in gentle, swaying colours, and “Nightlife” brings the city's pulsating nocturnal vitality to life through swinging rhythms and fusion-inspired harmonies. In this way, classical tradition and jazzy liveliness merge seamlessly, creating music that feels both clearly structured and vividly alive.
