This spoken fugue comes from ‘A Set of Madrigals’, written for Singer’s final exam at Cambridge University. This much-performed work has a  witty self-referential text written by the composer, cleverly describing the form of a fugue in the course of the piece. This piece was originally conceived to be performed by solo SATB voices, but, if necessary, other configurations of voices may be used, and more than one person to a part can be employed.
