This solo viola piece takes its title from the traditional Romanian folk dance Hora Spoitorilor. Loosely inspired by a Romanian folk theme, the music drifts through fragments of rhythm and melody, as if half-remembered. Asymmetrical, limping rhythms and interruptions of flow from repeated down-bowed figures keep the pulse blurred, lending the piece a gently skewed motion and a sense of unstable momentum.
