In Flanders Fields is a setting of McCrae’s famous poem. The piece is in an ABA structure in and is conceived as if in the memory of surviving soldier. It begins dream-like and ethereal, before becoming more bombastic in the B section. When we return to the initial material we return to the same dream-like state, but the music, and voices, begin to fade until we are left with one solo voice.
