Former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion’s exquisite poem ‘from: Gravity Archives’ features a series of acute observations and introspections of life. Russell Hepplewhite’s lilting and luminous score allows space for the poet’s contemplations to resonate, but it is also full of catchy melodic phrases, resulting in a hugely satisfying sing for choirs. Listen out for a fine musical depiction of the cat, who nonchalantly ‘slinks in / and lays her hyphen from your leg to mine’. ‘from: Gravity Archives’ is a significant new addition to the repertoire for SATB and piano, with lyrics from a towering figure in British literature.

‘from: Gravity Archives’ is one of ten new poems commissioned and set to music by Russell Hepplewhite in his landmark choral anthology Living Voices, published by Stainer & Bell. See here for more information on the other pieces in the collection.
