Beginner. Suite for Chloë is a 4 movement suite for beginner clarinet with piano accompaniment and is intended for a student of about Grade 1 to 2. There is a strong didactic thread running through the sections of the Suite, with "For Openers" requiring a decisive attack, fanfare style; "Metro Gnomes" demanding articulative skill and metronomic precision; "Smooth Operators" encouraging an efficient legato style, and "Best Foot Forward" stressing rhythmic drive (alla militare). Several key and time signatures are represented with various accents, dynamics, metronome markings and basic performance directions.
