About

Sunken Cities refers to the poetic 'Lost Land of Atlantis' that has inspired a body of works along a timeline ranging from Plato to Madame Blavatsky. The potency of the myth has a similar universal appeal to that of the Grail Legends. Blavatsky, for example, proposed that the civilisation of Atlantis reached its peak between 100,000 and 9.000 years ago, but that it destroyed itself through internal warfare brought about through the dangerous use of psychic and supernatural powers by the inhabitants. The supposed location of Atlantis has varied greatly, but now significant geographical and marine archeological evidence has revealed that Britain was once joined to Europe by a land mass. This area of land, now under the North Sea, is now known as Doggerland and it existed in the Mesolithic Era (Middle Stone Age), up until about 8,000 years ago, when it was finally inundated.

Sunken Cities explores the potential dystopia caused by current rising sea levels, which could threaten the very existence of mankind.
