About

As in a mosaic, where the design of the complete picture results from the arrangement of small and differently coloured pieces of stone, this music is based on seven variously shaped musical sections, each containing seven fragments of different duration deriving from a central note, G-sharp. The seven sections are followed by a coda. The musical mosaic consists of such fragments whose order within each section may be changed by the harpsichordist. The performance of Mosaic will also be determined by specific performance categories given by the composer and selected by the harpsichordist.

Mosaic was inspired by the sparkling virtuosity of Jane Chapman whose interpretive skills are a constant source of inspiration.

The world premiere of the complete initial version took place at the University of Music of Stuttgart, Germany, on 11th November 2013 and was performed by Marco Bidin.

Mosaic was revised in 2022-2023 in collaboration with Kristian Nyquist.
