Sonata for Trombone and Piano was composed in the summer of 2022 for its dedicee Ben Loska, whose progress as a player I have followed since his early teens. Although based on the same material, each of the three movements are very different in style and character. This is deliberate as it is intended to reflect the wide range of music that I have regularly experienced Ben performing.

The sonata was first performed by Ben Loska and Peter Copley in a New Music Brighton concert given at the Friends Meeting House, Brighton on the 13th April 2024.
