Four Seasons for Horn & Piano is a suite comprising four pieces that reflect the seasons of the year. There are parts in F and Eb.

RITUAL DANCE is a celebration of spring. The two outer sections are set in quick asymmetrical metre, with the slow central section taking on a more measured ritualistic style.

PASTORALE is a reflection of summer and set as a rustic idyll.

THROUGH THE FOREST represents a canter on horseback. It is written for Eb hand-horn and its classical style echoes both autumnal nostalgia and the hunting tradition. (Of course, it can also be played on the valve horn.)

SARABANDE is a slow dance with a mournful atmosphere recalling the bittersweet nature of winter.
