After graduating in Piano and Composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Mark Fielding won a scholarship to join the Post-Diploma Accompaniment Course. He went on to become Professor of Piano at Junior Guildhall combined with outside teaching at the Perse School and elsewhere. Many of his students have been successful, notably Erdem Misirlioglu who reached the grand final of the Young Musician of the Year 2008. Mark has performed in London and appeared in most of the countries of Europe, in the Americas and in the Far East. He has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, and made several CD recordings. He has specialized in chamber music and particularly accompanying cellists in recital which developed from working with his sister Hilary. Most of Mark Fielding's compositions feature the piano, but his twelve original pieces which make up 'All Styles' give prominence to the clarinet with the piano accompanying the melody and seldom doubling or even sharing it. The title of each piece gives a pretty clear indication of its style and the whole collection offers a variety of approachable, tuneful and enjoyable pieces, suitable for Grade 3-5 clarinettists and beyond, in simple key and time signatures.
