Called To Be Happy is a cantata of hope, inspired by the life of 17th-century Englishwoman Mary Ward, whose vision and unshakeable optimism enabled her to overcome the many obstacles she faced as a strong-minded woman in a man's world.
The same words that were used by Mary Ward to encourage her young followers four hundred years ago now offer encouragement, via Peter Rose and Anne Conlon’s enchanting songs and thought-provoking narrations, to contemporary young women as they start on their life’s journey in the world of today.
