During his early life in Bonn, Beethoven was active as an organist and church musician. He composed three pieces for the organ, the Fuga WoO 31, and the two Praeludia Op. 39. These pieces appear in print for the first time as part of a critical urtext edition. This edition also includes three pieces for Flötenuhr (WoO 33a) in a new arrangement by the editor. Original sources have been consulted during the preparation of this edition, in addition to other editions which are given mention in later text. This edition also contains a comprehensive timeline of Beethoven’s working life as an organist in Bonn, information on the instruments he may have known, and performance guidance for all six compositions.
