This gentle ballad of the ever-popular English carol beautifully captures the mood of a star filled night when the angels appeared to the shepherds, announcing the birth of Christ. The vocal lines are accesible while maintaining the singersinterest throughout. The flowing piano accompaniment, a trademark of any Lloyd Larson anthem, carries the music to a beautiful conclusion extolling, "Born is the King of Israel."
