This exceptionally unique work by Joseph Turrin is composed in memory of Howard Hanson, one of the 20th century’s greatest proponents of American music. While decidedly modern in sound, the mood of this piece adheres to Hanson’s own belief in the value of “warm blooded music” rather than the pursuit of coldly abstract, purely cerebral music. Hanson’s influence on 20th century music and the post-Romantic style is clearly evident in SERENADE ROMANTIC.If you’ve ever wished for something genuinely different for your higher level group to explore you owe it to yourself to check out this remarkable piece.
