Niflheim can be described as „the realm of death” and it comes from Germanic mythology. In Wouter Lenaerts’s most recent work, which he wrote for the Flemish Brass Band Orchestra on the occasion of the World Music Competition in Kerkrade, we are taken on a musical journey to the end of time, the Apocalypse, which is caused by a devastating nuclear disaster with only one survivor. The challenging composition is full of historical symbolism and thematic elements.
