Commissioned by Cantus, Stephen Caracciolo's fine new TTBB setting of "Simple Gifts" will give your audience a welcome twist on this classic American Shaker song. The rough-hewn simplicity of the song is captured by the use of drones, with interweaving melody and harmony above. Melodic fragments are artfully used throughout in the supporting voices, creating wonderful motivic and harmonic integration. "Simple Gifts" is sure to please!
