About
Adolphus Hailstork’s Three Spirituals for string trio is the “perfect storm” as his inspirations from African-American and European traditions cross-pollinate. Hailstork’s elegant setting of We Shall Overcome is treated like a Bach chorale prelude, Kum Ba Yah is a meditation tinged with gospel harmonies, and Great Day is a no-holds-barred exuberant finale!
