To the Conductor: Pavane started out as a composition for small orchestra and fits well in with this arrangement for flexible instrumentation. Please use the arrangement freely to underline the dramatic lines in the score by leaving out instrumental groups to make the instrumentation sound as good as your band can perform it. The dramatic middle part of the piece is reduced to keep the arrangement on the same grading and to leave room for the main theme to grow on you.
