Now comes beauty was originally composed in the Summer of 2009 as this song for solo voice and piano. Written at a time of great change in my life, it is essentially a song about reluctantly saying farewell to an idyllic, though sometime solitary life on the beautiful island of Mallorca, where I lived from 2004 to 2009 - the ending of a long relationship and the need to move on in a new direction. Death and re-birth if you like; painfully lost, but accepting and open at the same time. At the suggestion of my brother Gavin, I then made an arrangement for unaccompanied mixed voice choir (see GM052) and also an instrumental version for string orchestra (see GMCO090). Paul Carr
