In The Cajun Fiddle , Craig Duncan delivers the Tabasco taste of authentic Cajun fiddlingwith a superb collection of Cajun tunes and melodies for Violin! It begins with a section of easy arrangements of popular tunes, then progresses to more difficult solos based on the playing of various fiddlers including Dewey Balfa, Michael Doucet, Doug Kershaw, and Rufus Thibodeaux. It is a perfect example of Cajun stylings and rhythms with double stops, slides, turns and trills, bowings, and tunings all discussed throughout the book. An accompanying CD demonstrates the tunes in this book played on Fiddle and Guitar. The recorded versions are helpfully played at a slower tempo than typical performance speed to allow the listener to pick out and develop the fine details of the Cajun style.
