Under the work numbers “Wq 13/H. 416” a harpsichord concerto in D major has hitherto been known, but the solo part is anything but idiomatic for the instrument, which C. Ph. E. Bach himself mastered. The holdings of the Berliner Sing-Akademie, which are now accessible again, provide evidence that the original instrumentation is a flute concerto. Ulrich Leisinger, who has been familiar with the oeuvre of the important composer like no one else for years, published the first edition based on the two surviving copies.
