As an accomplished practitioner, Caldara then reduced the instrumentation for church music purposes. Numerous performances from 1750, after Caldara's death, are mentioned on the title page of the manuscript. This version seems to have been popular in Viennese church music - a good reason to print the work for the first time and to make it accessible to trumpet ensembles in the version for 4 trumpets, timpani and piano.
