The Concerto in D appeared around 1715 in a collective print, which includes six concertos and three composers are mentioned, one of whom is Giuseppe Torelli, to whom the work can be attributed beyond doubt for stylistic reasons. It is characteristic that the parts of the two violins are sometimes more virtuosic than the solo trumpet, which is only used in the outer movements. The edition for trumpet and piano contains two solo parts, making it possible to play the work on both a Bb trumpet and a D trumpet.
