This two-song medley can be used with any standard, recognized band method. "Red River Valley" is scored with simple contrapuntal lines, and "The Old Chisholm Trail" is a straightforward, rhythmical American folk song. This should be perfect for the beginning band to play for a school assembly when teaching a unit about the Wild West.
