Originally conceived to be performed in conjunction with excerpts from Fritz Lang's classic silent film Metropolis, this brooding 11-minute work from 1996 now exists as a concert work in its own right. Dark, dangerous and exhilarating, Descent was recorded on EMI by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding.
