Timpani
Timpani (or kettle drums) belong to the percussion family of instruments. Timpani are popular in orchestral music, as they are tuned to certain pitches as opposed to the drum kit which is untuned. Timpani are great at supporting low pitched instruments, dramatic crescendos and diminuendos and atmospheric drum rolls. Famous timpani players include Saul Goodman, Cloyd Duff, Vic Firth and Fred Hinger.
