Double Bass

Double Bass

The Double Bass is the lowest pitched member of the string family. A standard member of the string section, the double bass is used in classical, jazz, pop, blues, rock, and folk music. Famous double bassists include Charles Mingus, Dave Holland, Franz Simandl, Thomas Martin, Duncan McTier, and Serge Koussevitzky.Mainly used to underpin ensembles and orchestras, some solo repertoire remains for the double bass including works by J. S. Bach, Domenico Dragonetti, Giovanni Bottesini, Edouard Nanny and Gabriel Fauré.
