Exam Materials, ABRSM New Bowed String Syllabus

ABRSM recently launched their new Bowed Strings Syllabuses for Practical and Performance Grades from 2024. Featuring refreshed repertoire lists, the syllabus includes a wide range of composers and a greater choice of music than ever before.

For Practical Grades, the scales and arpeggios, sight-reading and aural-test requirements remain the same as for the 2020-2023 syllabus. Candidates can begin to present pieces from the 2024 repertoire lists from 1st January 2024 or they can present pieces from the previous repertoire lists until 31 December 2024, as long as all three set pieces are from the same syllabus.

Violin Exam Pieces from 2024

Featuring nine pieces per grade, Violin Exam Pieces from 2024 (for Grades 1 to 8) offer exciting repertoire, from new commissions to core classics and familiar tunes. The wide-ranging music in this series can help learners develop musicianship skills at every level. Available in three formats: part only, part and piano accompaniment, or part, accompaniment, and audio. An initial grade exam pack is also available for violin.

Viola Exam Pieces from 2024
