Sir Karl Jenkins celebrates his 75th birthday this year. To commemorate this anniversary he has released a brand new album with Decca titled Karl Jenkins: Piano. Alongside the album, Boosey & Hawkes have published the sheet music for all of the pieces on the album in one convenient collection. The album and sheet music collection contain his best-loved works re-imagined for piano, including popular music from The Armed Man and Adiemus, as well as two new original piano solos, specifically composed for the album.

Sir Karl Jenkins' impressive career as a composer encompasses a variety of genres including classical, jazz, TV and film music. He was confirmed as the most popular living composer in Classic FM’s Ultimate Hall of Fame. His new album goes back to where it all began – composing beautiful melodies at the piano. Sir Karl’s new arrangements are taken from both his choral and symphonic works, with piano versions of some of his most famous pieces. There are also two completely new compositions. These consist of the jazz-influenced Quirky Blue and White Water; a flowing piano piece in which, on the album, Sir Karl duets with his wife Lady Jenkins, Carol Barratt. The whole album was produced by their son Jody Jenkins.

Sir Karl Jenkins says, “When I first wrote these pieces, I was thinking about them in an orchestral style, so this album has given me the opportunity to go back to the origins and recreate them on piano in an intimate and personal way. It has been quite nostalgic and also very enjoyable to revisit my old scores and transform them into something new.”
