About
‘House of Light’ is a perfect blend of the compositions and bravado of guitarist Ant Law and saxophonist Alex Hitchcock and the brilliance of international wave makers Jasper Høiby (bass) and Sun-Mi Hong (drums).
‘House of Light’ will be released by Dutch indie jazz label ZenneZ Records on March 6. The official release concert will take place on March 28 at the groundbreaking Transition Jazz Festival (at TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht, the Netherlands). “Expect virtuoso playing, inventive compositions, and a unique blend of various jazz influences”, according to the festival. Ant Law and Alex Hitchcock are two innovative voices from the British jazz scene.
Where Law, described by The Guardian as "a game changer" is known for his interweaving of jazz, classical music, South Indian rhythms, and rock, Hitchcock is praised for his boundless combinations of musicians from different generations and regions. ‘House of Light’ contains 11 tracks, mostly written by Ant Law.

All four players have already built formidable reputations among lovers of cutting-edge modern jazz, and the compositions here are working broadly out of the European tradition: there's a certain cerebral poise and introspection to tunes like 'Buried Structure', a love of extended harmony and odd time metres, and a boldness in extending techniques as far as they can go…The sound of four exceptional musicians taking risks, and those risks paying off - essential listening.
