About
1965’s Dialogue was the debut by vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson who had already proven himself a versatile sideman on albums from Idle Moments to Out To Lunch. Dialogue showcased his more adventurous leanings with a sextet featuring Freddie Hubbard, Sam Rivers, Andrew Hill, Richard Davis and Joe Chambers. This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.

Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue
23rd Sep 2026
Bobby Hutcherson’s first released album as leader places the young vibraphonist alongside Freddie Hubbard, Sam Rivers, Andrew Hill, Richard Davis and Joe Chambers. Moving between hard bop and the avant-garde, Dialogue combines angular rhythms, shadowed blues and collective improvisation in a remarkably assured statement from Blue Note’s exploratory mid-1960s period.
