Bob Gallion is feted by rock 'n' roll and rockabilly collectors for sides like 'My Square Dancin' Mama', 'Baby Love Me', 'Froggy Went A Courtin'' and 'Hey Joe', however, he stuck to his Honky Tonk and Hillbilly roots for much of his recording career and chalked up rather more US Country hits than you might remember.
His peak years were between 1958 and 1962, during which he logged ten entries on Billboard and/or Cashbox including his biggest record, 'Wall To Wall Love', which topped the Cashbox C&W listings in late 1962 (it was their Christmas #1 that year).
This compilation anthologises Gallion's recordings for MGM and Hickory between 1956-62, the first time that this body of work has been thus compiled. A number of these sides, notably his Hickory releases, are devilishly difficult to find elsewhere on CD.
