About
Nature Is A Mother is the second full length album from songwriter, bassist and vocalist Charlie Pyne. The new album is a collection of original compositions that chart a contemplative course through magnetic contemporary jazz, featuring powerful vocals with bold lyrics, taking in elements of both Latin American and classical influence with folk undertones.
Pyne describes her new recording as: “an exploration of my life so far, as a woman, a mother and someone working in the creative industry. I hope to tell stories that everyone can relate to, from a modern female viewpoint. I really feel like I’ve found my voice with this album, and can’t wait to share the music!”
Charlie Pyne - Double Bass and Vocals
Luke Pinkstone - Saxophones
Liam Dunachie - Piano
Katie Patterson - Drums

A punchy set of originals from bassist/vocalist Charlie Pyne and her crew, celebrating the ups and downs of motherhood […] an enjoyable, effervescent set.

There’s a pleasing lightness of touch on this collection of all-original tunes, recorded with the same lineup as before. In fact Pyne seems able to carry the whole thing off with aplomb, aided by Pinkstone’s fluent reed contributions and Dunachie’s always reliable ivories. The mood is sunny and upbeat throughout… It’s all very accomplished, melodic, tasteful and well-recorded.
