The story of Red Kite: In 1999 the estate of Harewood House, close to North Leeds where Jamil lives, reintroduced red kites to the estate. The breeding and conservation programme was so successful that these enigmatic and majestic raptors now play a huge part in the overall wildlife picture of the area. They fly above residents’ gardens at low level, looking for prey, entertaining the local people and inspiring the local artists.

Red Kite stands tall as a contemporary masterpiece that pays homage to the Blue Note while seamlessly incorporating fresh and audacious sounds. Led by the visionary maestro, Jamil Sheriff, this quintet unites a group of extraordinary talents, each renowned for their exceptional prowess in the jazz realm.
