Sometimes haunting ideas originate in the Kludde camp. It can take years before these inspirations are actually taken to the point of realization. One of those ideas is "De Horla". It must have been 17 or 18 years ago when Ugl?k, who was active in the band until 2014, came up with a story about a Witch of loose morals, who got pregnant unexpectedly and gave birth to a hideous monstrosity, "de Horla". During the writing process of the second album "In de Kwelm", two types of songs were written. On the one hand the more compact, straight forward in-your-face songs which eventually formed the album "In de Kwelm", on the other hand the more epic and atmosphere driven compositions. At some point the decision was made to further explore the Horla story in combination with the longer, more atmospheric songs. Early 2020, recordings started, but unfortunately the covid pandemic forced the band to pause. But Kludde would not be Kludde if, from this setback, something didn't sprout that exceeded the initial ideas. The songs were even more refined and along the way the idea grew to forge the whole album into a complete visual story. "De Horla" is a concept album about Lust, Hate & Vengeance, where Kludde explores their musical boundaries, and where the creation and summoning of a certain dark atmosphere is the central idea. The fictional story is about a disfigured creature that is abandoned at birth, and is picked up by a travelling circus. "This is the kind of music that makes the heart beat faster and shreds the world around it, without get-ting lost in hysterical screams or screeching guitars. Kludde is not the sharpest or most esoteric band in Flanders, but it does what it does best, and seems to be indestructible." Rock Tribune
