Counce’s album is perhaps more famous (or infamous) these days for its tongue-in-cheek title and cover, but it remains the bassist’s best album. An impeccable timekeeper, Counce leads his group through a good-natured collection of rhythmically precise numbers [falling] somewhere between hard bop and West Coast cool, and is, as the title suggests great fun.
