Phil Bee's Freedom started out as an experiment. It worked so well that the recordings that were made at the very first gig were later released as the band's official debut CD. The eclectic material the band pulls it inspiration from, has lead to an interesting styl that combines, blues, bluesrock, soul, R&B and whatever else you can think of. 2016 was a vey successful year for the band. Numerous awards (both by the band and by individual musicians) were won at the Dutch Blues Foundation Awards ceremony, and the band entered the IBC in Memphis, to end runners up on the semi-finals, Only losing to the actual winners of the whole event. The whole Memphis adventure (which included some great live gigs) inspired Phil to write the title track of the album. Also Berland Rours and Pascal Lanslots contributed to the originals on the album. Together with some cleverly selected covers they result in an exhilarating album filled with soul drenched yet hard rocking R&B.
