Lindsay Cooper has long been recognised as an accomplished musician, most widely acclaimed for her work on bassoon and saxophone with groups such as Henry Cow, News From Babel, the Feminist Improvising Group and the Mike Westbrook Orchestra. What has perhaps been less widely acknowledged is her standing as a substantial composer.

She provided music for numerous films and television programmes, and responded to a number of commissions and personal requests with chamber and orchestral works that highlighted the individuality of her voice as a composer. It is this side of her activity which Impetus Records is keen to bring to a wider public with this 2CD set devoted to her composed works.
