Following a distinguished recording career with labels including Concord, Muse and Arbors, American cornetist Warren Vaché now joins forces with distinguished UK saxophonist Alan Barnes for this their second collaboration for Woodville Records.
The album marks another high point in the long association between the two headliners, who first met in the late 1980's when Alan was playing in Humphrey Lyttelton band and Warren was touring the world as a member of star studded ensembles such as the Concord All-Stars.
Joining the leaders are pianist John Pearce, bassist Dave Green and drummer Steve Brown, best known for their long association with saxophonist Scott Hamilton. This tight knit trio provides the appropriate level of care and musicality to a programme which includes familiar standards and three originals by Warren. Also making up the set are numbers by such eminent saxophonists as Benny Carter, Ben Webster and Johnny Hodges.
Personnel: Warren Vache (cornet and vocal), Alan Barnes (clarinet, alto and baritone saxophone), John Pearce (piano), Dave Green (double bass), Steve Brown (drums)
