Saxophonist Matt Wates has won the 'rising star' prize at the British Jazz Awards, his all-star band was voted Best Small Group in 2001 and Matt was featured on the front cover of Jazz Journal in January 2002. And, amazingly, every member of the sextet has been nominated for an award in the past two years.

Matt's swinging, accessible music contains hints of Blue Note, West Coast and R&B and is proving more popular than ever. The sextet is a favourite at festivals, jazz clubs and concert halls throughout Europe. 'Between The Lines' is released by one of the UK's leading independent jazz labels - Audio-B, and follows hot on the heels of the award-winning CD 'Interactions' by jazz super-group Acoustic Triangle.
