Recorded in a Stockholm church in 1979, Aftenland documents a fascinating encounter between Jan Garbarek, improviser par excellence, and classical organist Kjell Johnsen. “Preparing and realizing Aftenland was one of the most interesting experiences in my entire career,” Johnsen has said. “A major artistic achievement”, wrote Contemporary Keyboard.
