Preservation Hall, avant-garde style. Maybe 50 years have tamed this European freedom pioneer. Or maybe she always spaced her brittle 12-tone-ish morsels to preserve their contrast. She welcomes us here with polite civility, then the thunder rolls in. Sometime her two hands seem to have broken diplomatic relations. But it’s all smartly lucid in its flowery density.
