Prestige
Prestige Records was founded in 1949 by Bob Weinstock, initially known for issuing albums by bop and cool jazz artists. Early artists on the Prestige roster included John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins and Thelonious Monk. Audio engineer Rudy Van Gelder was present as a recording engineer on many Prestige albums throughout the 50s and early 60s.
