ECM & Scandinavian Jazz
A somewhat loosely-defined style of jazz, 'ECM jazz' (also known as 'Nordic Tone' or 'Scandinavian Jazz') is a style of jazz music heavily associated with the output of ECM Records, particularly Scandinavian jazz artists like Jan Garbarek and Terje Rypdal, as well as American players like Pat Metheny and Keith Jarrett. The style is known for its light, atmospheric qualities, and incorporates influences from cool jazz, avant-garde jazz, Western classical music, and Third Stream.
